The village resort of Valloire is the most southerly resort in the whole of the Savoie. This hanging valley above the Maurienne range opens up on the south side into the Briançonnais range via the famous Galibier pass. The name "Sunny Valley" or "Beautiful Valley" is translated from the Latin "Vallis Auréa" hence its alternative name of "Golden Valley". If you love mountains but also like your comforts, with this formula you can return each evening to your hotel where an appetising meal will await you.

Winter
Snowshoe hiking packages for WINTER 2010/2011
7 days full board + 5 x ½ days of snowshoe hiking

Meet on the Saturday between 4 and 6 p.m. at Valloire, Les Verneys, at the "Le Relais du Galibier" hotel, settle in.
Welcome drink at 7 p.m., followed by a presentation of the trip by your mountain guide for the trip from the Valloire Mountain Office.

Themed walks to discover the animal life of our mountains, traditional mountain village life, snow, avalanches. Full-day hikes where the emphasis is placed on exploration and discovery more than on sporting challenge. These hikes are a great way to get to know the "Vallée d'Or" and guarantee a total change of scenery.

Departure and return times will be decided according to snow conditions and the group's fitness level. The trip ends on Saturday, after breakfast
This programme is flexible depending on weather conditions.

Technical characteristics :

Level: Easy to intermediate level hikes. Ability to walk for 2 to 3 hours and 100 to 400 metres uphill per day.
Accommodation: 2** hotel "Le Relais du Galibier", full board. Rooms with shower, WC, TV. Fondue evening during the week.
Porter service: there is no porter service, only clothing for the day is needed.

      • from the 02/01/11 to the 07/01/11, from the 22/01/11 to the 04/02/11 and from the 19/03/11 to the 08/04/11: 572 € /per person
      • from the 18/12/10 to the 24/12/10, from the 05/02/11 to the 11/02/11 and from the 12/03/11 to the 18/03/11: 621 € / per person
      • from the 25/12/10 to the 01/01/11 and from the 12/02/11 to the 11/03/11: 649 € / per person

The price includes :
Accommodation at the hotel from the Saturday night to the following Saturday until after breakfast
Rental of snowshoes and poles
The organisation and mountain guide fee for the 5 half-days.
Where necessary, the loan of safety equipment

The price does not include :
Transport to and from the meeting point.
Drinks and personal expenses.

Supervision

The stay is supervised by Mountain Guides from the Valloire Mountain Guides Office. All of the guides are state-qualified, and all are holders of the "Upland snowy mountains experience" qualification and designated "France Snowshoe Guides".
